The Leupold VX-Freedom CDS is a 3-9x40 second-focal-plane hunting scope with a Tri-MOA reticle and a custom dial system that lets you order a drop-compensating turret matched to your load. It is a lightweight, simple set-and-forget scope aimed at deer and general big-game hunters who want a clean holdover reticle and a dial for longer shots. The only new price found is $419.99 at Walmart as of November 7, 2026, with no other new listings to compare against.

Owners of the VX-Freedom line generally describe it as a light, reliable hunting scope with clear glass for the money. The CDS dial is the main draw, though some note the extra cost and wait for a custom turret.
