Is the LG 50QNED80 worth it?

It is a solid mid-range 4K set if you mostly stream and watch in a room with some light. If you need deep blacks or 120 Hz gaming, step up to a mini-LED or OLED model.

Is it good for PS5 or Xbox Series X?

It accepts 4K at 60 Hz, so it works for consoles but caps fast games at 60 fps and lacks the 120 Hz and VRR features those consoles can use. Fine for casual play, not for competitive gaming.

Does it have local dimming?

No. The backlight is edge-lit LED without local dimming zones, so dark scenes can look gray and bright objects can bleed into black areas.

The TV, its stand and legs, a remote, and the power cable. HDMI and other cables are not included, so plan to supply your own.

Yes. The stand is removable and the set has VESA mounting points; check the exact VESA pattern for the 50-inch size before buying a bracket.

QNED sets typically drop around Black Friday, back-to-school and when a new model year replaces them. Watch the price history rather than buying at launch.

Our take on the LG 50" Class QNED80 Series 4K Smart QNED TV (50QNED80)

The LG 50QNED80 is a 50-inch 4K smart TV using LG's QNED branding: an edge-lit LED backlight with a quantum dot layer for wider color, plus HDR support and webOS streaming apps. It runs at 60 Hz, has three HDMI ports, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Ethernet, and includes its stand. It is a mid-tier set, not a mini-LED or OLED panel, so expect good color and brightness but modest black levels and no 120 Hz gaming.
