Our take on the Liberty Express 24 Aluminum Kids Road Bike 14 Speed

The Liberty Express 24 is an aluminum-framed road bike sized for kids around 8 to 11, with 24-inch wheels and a 14-speed drivetrain. It pairs a custom-painted CrMo unicrown fork with eyelets for racks or fenders and a Shimano 7-speed cassette in a 12-28T range. It is a real drop-bar road bike for a young rider, not a hybrid or coaster-brake kids bike. No current price was provided, so compare any quote against its recent range before buying.

Best forKids 8-11 ready to move up to drop barsFamilies doing paved rides and club-style trainingYoung riders who want gears for hillsA first road bike that can take fenders or a rack
Pros
  • Light aluminum frame is easier for a child to handle
  • CrMo fork with eyelets adds comfort and mounting options
  • 14 speeds with a 12-28T cassette cover rolling and hilly routes
  • Drop bars and road geometry teach real road riding
  • Custom-painted fork looks less like a generic kids bike
Cons
  • 24-inch wheels limit the bike to a few years of growth
  • 14-speed gearing and drop bars demand shifting skill
  • No price given here, so value is hard to judge
  • Narrow road tires and rim-style setup suit pavement, not trails

Questions and answers

Is the Liberty Express 24 worth it for a young rider?
It makes sense if your child is ready for drop bars and gears and mostly rides pavement. The aluminum frame and CrMo fork are a step up from typical kids bikes. Check the price against similar 24-inch road bikes before deciding.
What age or height does a 24-inch road bike fit?
Most 24-inch kids road bikes fit riders roughly 4'2" to 4'9", about ages 8 to 11. Have your child stand over the frame to confirm clearance before buying.
How many gears does it have?
It has 14 speeds, listed as a 7-speed Shimano cassette with a 12-28T range. That is enough for rolling roads and moderate climbs.
Can it take fenders or a rear rack?
The CrMo fork has eyelets, which supports mounting fenders or a front rack. Check the rear frame for eyelets before planning a rear rack.
How does it compare with a 24-inch hybrid or mountain bike?
It is faster and lighter on pavement than a kids hybrid or mountain bike. It is less suited to dirt, curbs and rough paths because of the road tires and drop-bar position.
When is the best time to buy?
Kids bike prices often drop in late summer and around holiday sales as shops clear sizes. Watch the price history and buy when a quote falls below the recent range.
