Our take on the Lifetime Manta 100 Tandem Kayak with Paddles

The Lifetime Manta 100 is a 10-foot, 73-pound sit-on-top tandem kayak molded from low-density polyethylene, with a tunnel hull that trades speed for stability. It carries two paddlers and up to 500 pounds, and comes with two paddles and padded adjustable backrests. The 36-inch beam makes it one of the wider recreational tandems, so it tracks slowly but feels planted on calm water. The best new price is $549.99 at Peach Frog as of November 4, 2026, with two stores listing it new.

Questions and answers

Is the Lifetime Manta 100 worth it for a beginner?
Yes, if you paddle calm lakes, bays and slow rivers. The tunnel hull and 36-inch width make it hard to tip, and paddles come included. It is a poor fit if you want speed or plan to paddle open water.
How does it compare with a sit-in tandem kayak?
The Manta is a sit-on-top, so it is easier to get back into after a swim and self-drains, but it is heavier and wetter in chop. Sit-in tandems track better and stay drier in cool weather.
Can one person paddle the Manta 100 alone?
It can be done, but the 10-foot length and 73-pound weight make solo paddling awkward, and the bow sits high without a front paddler. It is designed as a tandem.
What is included with the kayak?
Two paddles and two padded backrests come with the boat. There are no hatches or dry storage, only front deck bungee.
How much weight can it carry?
The stated capacity is 500 pounds, covering two paddlers plus gear. That is generous for a 10-foot recreational tandem.
When is the best time to buy it?
Recreational kayaks usually drop in price at the end of summer and around Black Friday. The current best new price is $549.99 at Peach Frog as of November 4, 2026.
Where is the Lifetime Manta 100 Tandem Kayak with Paddles cheapest?
