Our take on the Link Retro Mini Gaming Console with 620 Games

The Link Retro Mini is a small gray plug-and-play console, about 5.1 inches tall, that claims 620 built-in games in the style of 1980s 8-bit systems. It is a novelty gift or desk toy rather than a serious retro console. At $39.99 at Target as of November 3, 2026, it is the only new price listed, so there is no recent range to compare against.

Questions and answers

Is the Link Retro Mini worth $39.99?
Only as a novelty. The 1.6 out of 5 rating from 23 ratings suggests most buyers were disappointed, so do not expect a real retro console experience.
Are the 620 games real classics?
Expect a mix of generic and duplicated titles rather than licensed classics. The high count is mostly filler, which is common on consoles in this price range.
What comes in the box?
Typically the console unit, one or two wired controllers, an AV cable and a power adapter. Check the Target listing for the exact bundle before buying.
Does it work with modern TVs?
Consoles of this type usually output composite AV, so you need AV inputs or an adapter. It will not plug into HDMI directly without a converter.
How does it compare with a real mini console?
Official mini consoles cost more but include licensed games, better emulation and HDMI output. The Link Retro Mini trades all of that for a low price.
When is it cheapest?
The only new price listed is $39.99 at Target as of November 3, 2026. Novelty consoles like this often drop around Black Friday and the holidays.
