Our take on the Little Giant Velocity Aluminum Ladder 18 ft Reach 15422-001

The Little Giant Velocity M22 is a 300 lb-rated aluminum multi-position ladder that converts between A-frame, extension, staircase and 90-degree modes, reaching up to 18 ft 11 in with a 22 ft max reach. It weighs 38.5 lb, which is light for a ladder this tall, and the Velocity line's push-pin and rock-lock adjustments are the main selling point over a plain extension ladder. The best new price is $264.00 at Walmart as of November 5, 2026, and only one store lists it new, so there is little price competition to shop around.

Best forHomeowners who need one ladder for indoor and outdoor jobsStairwell and uneven-floor workPainters and contractors who move between setupsBuyers who want extension reach without a second ladder
Pros
  • Four configurations from one ladder: A-frame, extension, staircase and 90-degree

  • 38.5 lb is manageable for one person to carry and set up
  • Reaches 18 ft 11 in as an extension, 22 ft max reach
  • Aluminum frame resists rust indoors and out
Cons
  • 38.5 lb is still heavy to haul up stairs or across a yard repeatedly
  • Multi-position hinges and pins add setup steps versus a fixed ladder
  • Only one new-price listing at $264.00, so little room to compare
  • Telescoping sections need care to lock fully before climbing

Questions and answers

Is the Little Giant Velocity M22 worth it over a cheap extension ladder?
If you work around stairs, sloped ground or need both a stepladder and an extension ladder, the M22 replaces two ladders. A basic extension ladder costs less but cannot stand as an A-frame or fit a staircase.
How tall a job can it reach?
It extends to 18 ft 11 in, and Little Giant lists a 22 ft max reach, which assumes a person standing near the top. For gutter or roof work, check that your working height fits within that reach.
How heavy is it to carry?
It weighs 38.5 lb. That is lighter than many multi-position ladders of this size, but still a two-hand carry up stairs.
What modes does it convert to?
A-frame, extension, staircase and 90-degree. The 90-degree setting lets you stand it close to a wall.
What is the weight limit?
300 lb, including the user and tools. That is the Type IA rating.
When is the best time to buy?
Ladder prices often dip around spring home-improvement sales and Black Friday. With only one new listing at $264.00 as of November 5, 2026, watch for a second seller to appear before assuming a discount.
Where is the Little Giant Velocity Aluminum Ladder 18 ft Reach 15422-001 cheapest?
At Walmart, for $264.00, as of our latest check.
