Our take on the Loon Peak Katwon Solid Wood Top Coffee Table

The Loon Peak Katwon is a 44-inch square solid wood coffee table, 19 inches tall, built entirely from solid wood rather than veneer or engineered panels. Its full 44-inch depth makes it a large anchor piece for a living room seating group, and the 19-inch height sits slightly above typical coffee tables, closer to a low side table. It carries a 4.8 out of 5 rating from 55 ratings. No current price was available to compare against its recent range.

Questions and answers

Is it worth buying over a veneer table?
If you want a table that can be refinished and takes daily wear, solid wood is the better long-term buy. Veneer is lighter and cheaper but cannot be sanded back.
How big is it really?
It is 44 inches wide and 44 inches deep, so it is a square, not a long rectangle. Measure your seating gap first; it needs roughly a 3.5-foot square of floor.
Is 19 inches too tall for a coffee table?
Standard coffee tables run 16 to 18 inches. At 19 inches it pairs better with sofas whose seat height is around 19 to 21 inches.
Does it come assembled?
Expect some assembly, typically attaching the base or legs to the top. Solid wood tables of this size are heavy, so plan for two people.
What is in the box?
The table top, base or legs, and the hardware needed to attach them. Check the listing for the exact parts list before ordering.
When is it cheapest?
Watch for seasonal furniture sales and holiday events, when solid wood pieces are often discounted. Track the price history to see how far it has moved.
