Is the M4 MacBook Air 15" worth it over the M3 model?

If you already own an M3 Air, the jump is modest: mainly the newer chip and the 12MP Center Stage camera. Coming from an Intel Mac or an M1, the M4 is a clear step up in speed and battery life.

Is 256GB of storage enough?

For documents, streaming and cloud-stored photos, yes. If you keep large video files, photo libraries or many games locally, pay for 512GB, since the SSD can't be upgraded later.

How long does the battery actually last?

Apple rates up to 18 hours of video streaming and 15 hours of wireless web. Real mixed use typically lands closer to the web figure, and heavy editing shortens it further.

Can I connect an external monitor?

Yes. The Air supports an external display, and with the lid closed it can drive up to two external displays on M4 models. Check the exact configuration before buying if you need dual screens.

The laptop, a USB-C to MagSafe 3 charging cable and a USB-C power adapter. No mouse or sleeve is included.

Discounts cluster around back-to-school season, Black Friday and Cyber Monday, and when a new model is announced. Base 256GB configurations see the deepest cuts.

Our take on the MacBook Air 15"

The MacBook Air 15" with the M4 chip is Apple's large-screen thin-and-light laptop. It pairs a 15.3-inch 2880-by-1864 display at 500 nits with a fanless M4 chip, 16GB of unified memory and a 256GB SSD. Apple rates it at up to 18 hours of video streaming and 15 hours of wireless web on a 66.5-watt-hour battery. It adds Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3 and a 12MP Center Stage camera.
