Our take on the Mackenzie-Childs Courtly Check 7-Inch Flameless Pillar Black White

A set of four 7-inch flameless pillar candles in Mackenzie-Childs' Courtly Check pattern, black and white with a hand-painted look. They give the look of lit pillars without a flame, so they suit tables and shelves where real candles are a worry. The set is $79.95 at Nordstrom as of November 7, 2026, and only one store lists it new, so there is no cheaper price to wait for.

Pros
  • Four candles in one set, so a table or mantel can be styled at once

  • Courtly Check pattern matches other Mackenzie-Childs pieces
Cons
  • About $20 per candle, high for flameless pillars
  • Only one store lists it new, so there is no price competition
  • Hand-painted pattern means slight variation between pieces
  • No remote or timer mentioned, so check the switch before buying

Questions and answers

Is $79.95 a good price for this set?
It is the only new price listed, $79.95 at Nordstrom as of November 7, 2026. With one seller there is no lower price to compare against, so judge it against what you would pay for four flameless pillars elsewhere.
How big are the candles?
Each candle is 7 inches tall, and the set has four. That height suits a dining table centerpiece or a shelf grouping.
Do they have a timer or remote?
The listing does not mention a timer or remote. Check the switch on the base before you buy if you want them to turn on by themselves.
Can I use them outdoors?
They have no open flame, so wind is not a problem, but the finish and battery compartment are not described as weatherproof. Keep them on a covered porch rather than in direct rain.
Do they match other Courtly Check pieces?
Yes. The black and white check is the same pattern used across Mackenzie-Childs dinnerware and decor, so they fit alongside existing pieces.
Where is the Mackenzie-Childs Courtly Check 7-Inch Flameless Pillar Black White cheapest?
At Nordstrom, for $79.95, as of our latest check.
