Is this drill worth it if I already own Makita 18V batteries?

Yes, if you are on the LXT platform. The tool-only price of $218.56 at Walmart as of November 3, 2026 buys the drill without batteries, so existing LXT packs and chargers are what make it pay off.

Does it come with a battery and charger?

No. It is tool only, and the listing includes no battery and no charger. You need an 18V LXT battery and a charger, sold separately.

How does it compare with a plain drill-driver?

It adds a hammer mode for drilling brick and block, plus a brushless motor rated to 2,100 RPM. If you never drill masonry, a non-hammer LXT drill is lighter and usually cheaper.

What can it drill through?

Wood, metal and light masonry. Hammer mode handles brick and block; for poured concrete, a corded rotary hammer is the better tool.

How much does it weigh?

The package weight is about 6.3 lbs, and the tool alone is lighter. Expect it to feel top-heavy with a 3.0 Ah pack fitted during overhead work.

When is the price lowest?

Only one store lists it new at $218.56 as of November 3, 2026, so there is no lower new price to wait for right now. Watch for bundle deals that include batteries, which often cost less than buying the tool and packs separately.
