Our take on the Makita 18V LXT Lithium-Ion Brushless Cordless 2-Pc. Combo Kit (Driver-Drill/Impact Driver)

This is Makita's two-tool 18V LXT kit: a brushless hammer driver-drill and a brushless 4-speed impact driver, each with its own 18V lithium-ion battery, plus a charger and tool bag. Brushless motors run cooler and longer per charge than brushed ones, and the two batteries mean one tool keeps working while the other charges. The kit's price has swung widely in early November 2026, from $573.87 on November 1 to $329.99 on November 5, so the current low is well below the recent top.

Best for
Homeowners and DIYers who want one kit for drilling and driving
Pros already on the 18V LXT battery platform
Buyers who want two batteries and a charger in one purchase
Framing, decking and fastener-heavy jobs
Pros
  • Brushless motors on both tools for longer runtime and less maintenance
  • Two 18V LXT batteries included, so one tool runs while the other charges
  • Impact driver has 4 speed settings for control on small fasteners
  • Hammer mode on the drill handles light masonry
  • Tool bag and charger included; kit weight is about 6 lbs.
  • Shares the large 18V LXT battery platform with many other Makita tools
Cons
  • Battery capacities are not stated, so runtime per charge is unclear
  • No hard case, only a soft tool bag
  • Hammer function is light-duty, not a substitute for a rotary hammer
  • Kit weight figure likely excludes batteries, so real carry weight is higher

What reviewers say

Owners of Makita's 18V LXT brushless combo kits generally rate the tools highly for power, balance and battery life, and the impact driver's speed settings are a common favorite. Complaints tend to focus on kit contents rather than the tools themselves.

Pros
  • Strong, smooth power from the brushless motors
  • Impact driver's multiple speed modes are easy to control
  • Batteries hold charge well and fit the wider LXT line
  • Comfortable, well-balanced handles
Cons
  • Soft bag instead of a hard case
  • Some buyers want larger-capacity batteries in the kit
  • Charger is a standard unit, not a fast dual-port charger

Questions and answers

Is this kit worth it at $329.99?
At $329.99 it sits at the low end of its recent range, which ran up to $573.87 on November 1, 2026. For two brushless tools with two batteries and a charger, that is a strong entry into the 18V LXT platform.
How does it compare with Makita's brushed combo kits?
The brushless motors here run more efficiently and need less maintenance than brushed versions, and the impact driver adds 4 speed settings. Brushed kits cost less but give up runtime and control.
Do the batteries fit other Makita tools?
Yes. Both included batteries use the 18V LXT slide mount, which fits the large LXT lineup of drills, saws, grinders and outdoor tools.
What comes in the box?
A hammer driver-drill, an impact driver, two 18V lithium-ion batteries, a charger and a tool bag. No hard case is included.
Can the drill handle concrete?
It has a hammer mode for light masonry such as small holes in brick or block. For regular concrete work, a dedicated rotary hammer is the better tool.
When is it cheapest?
Combo kits like this one tend to drop during holiday and spring tool promotions. Its recent low of $329.99 came on November 5, 2026, well under the $573.87 seen four days earlier.
