Our take on the Mars Gaming MGP-BT2 Smartphone Controller

The Mars Gaming MGP-BT2 is a wireless gamepad with a phone clip and stand, aimed at turning a smartphone into a handheld console. It pairs over Bluetooth with Android, iOS, PC, PS3, PS4 and Switch 2, and adds dual vibration and adjustable stick sensitivity. It weighs 230 g and runs about 10 hours per USB-C charge, with a 10 m wireless range. It is a budget-tier controller, so expect plastic build and no touchpad or back buttons.

Questions and answers

Is the MGP-BT2 worth it?
It is a cheap way to get analog sticks, triggers and vibration for phone gaming across several platforms. Build quality and battery life are basic, so buy it for casual play, not competitive use.
Does it work with iPhone?
Yes, iOS is listed as compatible, and it connects wirelessly over Bluetooth. Check that your game supports external controllers, since many iOS titles do not.
How long does the battery last?
About 10 hours per charge, recharged over USB-C with the included 1 m cable. That is roughly a few long sessions before you need to plug in.
Can I use it with a PC?
Yes, PC is one of the supported systems alongside Android, iOS, PS3, PS4 and Switch 2. It connects wirelessly, so no dongle is needed.
What is in the box?
The controller, a universal smartphone adapter, a smartphone stand and a 1 m USB-C cable. No case or extra cables are included.
Does it have a touchpad or back buttons?
No. It has analog sticks, triggers and dual vibration, but no touchpad and no listed rear buttons.
