Is the high back tall enough for an adult ferret?

The back wall is 8 inches high, which covers most adult ferrets when they back into the corner. Very large or determined diggers may still clear the lower front edge.

Will it fit in a standard ferret cage?

At 15 by 13 inches and 8 inches tall, it fits most multi-level ferret cages, especially in a corner. Measure your cage corner and door opening before buying.

What litter should I use in it?

Paper-based or wood pellet litter works well in an open pan and is easier to scoop than clumping clay. Avoid dusty litters, since ferrets have sensitive respiratory tracts.

Does it come with a hood or lid?

No. It is an open pan with no hood, so odor and scatter control depend on the litter and how often you scoop.

Is $17.49 a good price?

Our take on the Marshall Ferret High Back Litter Pan

The Marshall Ferret High Back Litter Pan is a plain open plastic pan sized for ferrets: 15 inches long, 13 wide and 8 inches tall at the back. The raised rear wall and corner shape are meant to keep a ferret that backs up to the edge from throwing litter or waste over the side. It weighs 1.5 lb and has no hood, no self-cleaning and no motion sensor, so it is a basic scoop-it-yourself pan. At $17.49 at Petco.com as of November 6, 2026, it sits at the low end of its recent price range, with two stores listing it new.
