It is Energy Star qualified at 496 kWh/year and has a FastFreeze option for the coldest setting over 24 hours. Questions and answers

Is $697 a good price for this freezer?
It is the lowest of the four new listings as of November 5, 2026, so it is a strong price against the current field. Freezers of this size and type usually sell for more.
Do I have to defrost it?
No. It is frost free with automatic defrost, so ice buildup is handled for you.
Can I put it in my garage?
No. Maytag does not rate it as garage ready and does not approve it for outdoor use. Keep it in a conditioned indoor space.
Will it fit a 30-inch opening?
It is 30.25 inches wide, 29.125 inches deep with the handle and 66.75 inches tall, so allow a little clearance on each side and above the hinge.
Which way does the door open?
The door is reversible, so the installer can set it to hinge left or right.
Does it come with a lock or ice maker?
No. It has no lock and no built-in ice maker; it is a plain freezer with four wire shelves.
