Is the mattress included?

No. It is frame only, so you need to buy a standard twin mattress separately. The included slats support the mattress without a box spring.

What mattress thickness works best?

A twin mattress around 8 to 10 inches thick sits well within the upholstered back and arms. Very thick mattresses can sit above the backrest and look off.

How much clearance do the drawers need?

Leave enough open floor in front of the bed for the drawers to pull out fully. Placing it against a wall on the drawer side blocks access.

Does it need a box spring?

No. The frame includes slats, which support the mattress directly. Adding a box spring would raise the sleeping height unnecessarily.

Is it sturdy enough for daily sleeping?

It is a wood frame built for regular use as a twin bed, but check the listed weight capacity before buying. Tighten the assembly bolts after the first few weeks of use.

When is the price likely to be lowest?

Furniture like this tends to dip during major sales events and at end of season. Compare the current price against its recent range before buying.

Our take on the Mercer41 Twin Daybed with 2 Storage Drawers

The Mercer41 Twin Daybed with 2 Storage Drawers is an upholstered wood-frame daybed that doubles as a sofa by day and a twin bed by night, with two drawers built into the base for bedding or clothes. It ships as a frame only, so you supply the twin mattress, and the included slats mean no box spring is needed. It suits guest rooms, studios and kids' rooms where floor space is tight.
