Our take on the Metra Powersports MPS-WRM45 Water-Resistant Rearview Mirror with 4.5 inch Monitor

The Metra MPS-WRM45 is a clip-on rearview mirror with a built-in 4.5-inch monitor for a backup or auxiliary camera. It is water-resistant and works with most aftermarket camera inputs, so it fits nearly any car without a factory screen. It is a universal-fit part rather than a vehicle-specific mirror. No current price was provided, so check the latest listing before buying.

Questions and answers

Is the Metra MPS-WRM45 worth it?
It is a cheap way to add a backup screen to a car with no factory display. If you want a large, bright image, a dedicated dash monitor or a new head unit will serve you better.
Does it come with a camera?
No. The MPS-WRM45 is the mirror and monitor only. You need a separate camera that outputs to a standard aftermarket video input.
Will it fit my car?
It is listed as universal fit for cars, so it should mount in most vehicles. Check that your mirror stem and windshield bracket match the included mounting hardware before buying.
How big is the screen?
The monitor is 4.5 inches diagonal, set inside the mirror glass. That is smaller than most dash-mounted backup monitors.
Is it really water-resistant?
Metra rates the housing water-resistant, which helps in damp or open-cab use. It is not waterproof, so do not submerge it or leave it exposed to heavy rain.
When is the best time to buy?
Prices on universal car electronics move around promotions and holiday sales. Compare the current price across stores and buy when it sits below the recent range.
