Our take on the Mi-T-M ChoreMaster GEN-6000-0MM0 Portable Generator

The Mi-T-M ChoreMaster GEN-6000-0MM0 is a gasoline portable generator with 5,000 watts continuous and 6,000 watts peak output, powered by a 389cc OHV engine. It runs 120V and 240V loads through four outlets, including a 30A twist-lock and GFCI 5-20R receptacles, and its inverter design keeps total harmonic distortion under 6 percent for sensitive electronics. A 7.3-gallon tank gives about 8 hours at full load, and low-oil shutdown and auto idle control add engine protection and fuel savings. At $943.75 at Georgia Underground and Supply as of November 4, 2026, it sits at the low end of its recent range, with only two stores pricing it new.

Questions and answers

Is the GEN-6000-0MM0 worth it over a cheaper 6,000W generator?
It costs more than budget box-store units, but the inverter output under 6 percent THD and GFCI protection suit tools and electronics. At $943.75 at Georgia Underground and Supply as of November 4, 2026, it is priced near the bottom of its recent range.
Can it run a house during an outage?
It can carry essentials like a fridge, furnace, lights and a well pump through its 120V and 240V outlets. It is not a whole-home standby unit, so a transfer switch and load management are needed.
How loud is it?
Mi-T-M rates it at 77.1 dB, which is loud enough to bother close neighbors. Auto idle control lowers the engine speed and noise when loads are light.
Does it have electric start?
The listed specs show no electric start, so starting is by recoil pull. The 389cc engine and low-oil shutdown are the main engine features.
What outlets does it have?
It has four receptacles: GFCI 5-20R household outlets, a NEMA L5-30R 120V twist-lock and a NEMA L14-20R 120V/240V twist-lock. Circuit breakers protect each circuit.
When is it cheapest?
Generator prices tend to dip outside storm season and during fall promotions. Track the price history here and compare both stores before buying.
