Is the Surface Laptop 7 worth it?

Yes for everyday Windows work, study and streaming, where the battery life and screen shine. If you need heavy gaming or specialized x86 software, look at an Intel or AMD laptop instead.

How does it compare with the Surface Laptop 6?

The Laptop 7 moves to Snapdragon X Elite with much better battery life and a 120 Hz screen. The Laptop 6 uses Intel chips, so it runs more legacy software natively but lasts less on a charge.

How long does the battery last?

Microsoft rates it up to 20 hours. Real-world mixed use typically lands well short of that but still comfortably through a workday.

Is the 15-inch model too big to carry?

At 1.66 kg it is manageable in a backpack but noticeable in a hand. If portability matters most, the 13.8-inch version is lighter.

Can it run my Windows apps?

Most mainstream apps run natively or through emulation. Check any specialized or older software, and most PC games, before buying.

Surface laptops usually drop during back-to-school and Black Friday sales, and older configurations fall further once a successor arrives. Track the price history before buying.

It stands out for its 2496 x 1664 120 Hz touchscreen, Wi-Fi 7, and long battery life, plus a full aluminum build with USB-C and HDMI.
