Is 35 pints a day enough for a basement?

For a typical basement of 1,000 to 1,500 sq. ft. with moderate dampness, yes. The 3,500 sq. ft. rating assumes ideal warm, humid conditions; very wet or cold spaces may need a larger unit.

Does it work in a cold garage?

Compressor dehumidifiers lose efficiency below about 41°F and may frost up. It has auto-defrost, but for unheated spaces near freezing a desiccant unit is the better choice.

Can it drain continuously?

Yes, it has a gravity drain outlet for a hose, which is the better option for constant use. Check whether a hose is included, since many listings sell it separately.

Expect roughly 50 dB on low and closer to 55 dB on high, similar to a running refrigerator or a quiet conversation. It is fine in a basement, noticeable in a bedroom.

The unit, a washable filter and a quick-start guide are standard. A drain hose and remote are not always included, so confirm before buying.

Dehumidifier prices peak in late spring and summer and ease in fall and winter. Watch for price drops outside humid season.
