Our take on the Miles Kimball OakRidge Digital Comfort Fleece Heated Throw

The OakRidge Digital Comfort Fleece Heated Throw is a 60-by-50-inch electric blanket in soft fleece, made by Miles Kimball's OakRidge line. It runs on a digital controller with adjustable heat settings and is machine washable once the cord is detached. At 60 inches wide it covers a sofa or a lap well but is shorter than a full bed throw, so it suits one person rather than two. No current price was provided, so check the live comparison before buying.

Questions and answers

Is the OakRidge heated throw big enough for two people?
No. At 60 by 50 inches it is sized for one person on a couch or chair. Two people sharing it will each get only partial coverage.
Can I wash it in a washing machine?
Yes, it is machine washable, but detach the controller and cord first and follow the care label. Air-dry or tumble on low to protect the wiring.
How does it compare with a full-size electric blanket?
It is smaller and cheaper than a bed blanket and better for spot heating. A bed blanket covers a mattress; this throw covers a lap and legs.
Does it have an automatic shutoff?
Digital heated throws in this class usually include a timed auto-off, but confirm it on the controller instructions before relying on it overnight.
When is the best time to buy it?
Heated throws tend to be discounted in late fall and around winter holidays. Compare the current price against its recent range before buying.
