Our take on the Milwaukee M12 FUEL 3 in. Cut Off Tool with 5Ah Battery Pack

The Milwaukee M12 FUEL 3 in. Cut Off Tool is a compact cordless cutter for metal, tile and plastic, built on Milwaukee's brushless FUEL motor and 12V battery platform. It weighs about 1.5 lb, so it works one-handed in tight spots where a full-size grinder won't fit. This listing bundles it with a 5Ah M12 battery pack. The lowest price seen since November 1, 2026 was $198.00 on November 1, 2026, so there is no discount history to compare against yet.

Pros
  • Light at about 1.5 lb for one-handed use
  • Brushless FUEL motor with good power for its size
  • Cuts metal, tile and plastic with the right wheel
  • Small head reaches inside cabinets and between studs
  • 5Ah battery pack adds runtime over the usual compact pack
Cons
  • 3 in. wheels limit depth of cut compared with an angle grinder
  • Bare tool is often cheaper if you already own M12 batteries
  • Wheel changes and guard setup take some getting used to
  • Not a substitute for a full-size grinder on heavy steel

  • Light and easy to control one-handed
  • Brushless motor holds speed under load
Cons

Questions and answers

Is the Milwaukee M12 Cut Off Tool worth it?
Yes if you cut pipe, conduit, rod or tile in tight spots and already use M12 batteries. For heavy steel cutting, a corded or 4.5 in. grinder is the better tool.
What is included in this bundle?
The tool plus a 5Ah M12 battery pack. Check the listing for whether a charger and case are included, since bundles vary.
What size wheels does it take?
It uses 3 in. cut-off wheels. That size keeps the tool compact but limits how deep it can cut in one pass.
How does it compare with an angle grinder?
It is far lighter and reaches places a grinder can't, but it has less power and a smaller wheel. Use it for precision and tight spaces, not heavy grinding.
Is $198 a good price?
The lowest price recorded since November 1, 2026 was $198.00 on November 1, 2026, so there is no lower price to compare against yet. Watch it for a few weeks before assuming it will drop.
Does it work with other M12 batteries?
Yes. It runs on any Milwaukee M12 battery, so the 5Ah pack here is an upgrade for runtime rather than a requirement.
What do buyers say about the Milwaukee M12 FUEL 3 in. Cut Off Tool with 5Ah Battery Pack?
Rated 4.3 out of 5 from 132 ratings.
