Our take on the Milwaukee M18 Brushless Cordless Compact Drill/Impact Combo Kit with 2.0 Ah Batteries

A two-tool kit pairing Milwaukee's M18 brushless compact drill/driver and impact driver, sold with two 2.0 Ah batteries and a soft case. Brushless motors give longer runtime and more power per charge than the older brushed M18 compact tools. The 2.0 Ah packs are the small, light batteries, so this kit suits light to medium work rather than all-day heavy drilling. It is a common entry point into the M18 battery platform.

Best forHomeowners and DIYers starting on the M18 platform
Light framing, assembly and cabinet work
Electricians and installers who want compact tools
Buyers who already own other M18 batteries
Pros
  • Brushless motors on both tools for better efficiency
  • Two batteries included, so one can charge while the other works
  • Compact, light bodies for overhead and tight-space work
  • Soft case keeps both tools and batteries together
  • Shares the M18 battery platform with a large tool range
Cons
  • 2.0 Ah batteries are small; expect short runtime in heavy drilling
  • Not the Fuel line, so lower torque than Milwaukee's top compact tools
  • No hard case or bit set included
  • Charger and battery size may feel limiting for pros on big jobs

Questions and answers

Is this kit worth it over the brushed version?
Yes for most buyers. The brushless motors run cooler and longer per charge, and the tools last longer. The brushed kit is cheaper but heavier and less efficient.
How does it compare with Milwaukee's Fuel combo kits?
Fuel tools use Milwaukee's higher-torque brushless motors and typically come with larger batteries. This kit is lighter and cheaper but has less power for heavy drilling and driving.
How long do the 2.0 Ah batteries last?
Expect modest runtime: fine for assembly, outlets and light drilling, but heavy lag-bolt or hole-saw work will drain them quickly. Larger M18 packs fit the same tools if you need more.
What is in the box?
The drill/driver, the impact driver, two M18 2.0 Ah batteries, a charger and a soft case. Bits and drill bits are not included.
Do the batteries fit other Milwaukee tools?
Yes. The 2.0 Ah packs work in any M18 tool, and any M18 battery works in these tools.
When is it cheapest?
Milwaukee kits usually drop around Black Friday, Father's Day and end-of-season tool sales. Watch the price history rather than buying at list.
