Our take on the MMI Door Painted Fiberglass 2-Panel Exterior Door with Two Sidelites

The MMI Door Painted Fiberglass 2-Panel Exterior Door with Two Sidelites is a prehung entry unit: a 2-panel fiberglass slab with an insulated polyurethane core, flanked by two tempered-glass sidelites in a composite frame. It ships painted in Naval, Black, Brilliant White or Brown, in right- or left-hand inswing, at a nominal 80 in. by 64 in. (81.75 in. by 65 in. overall). Fiberglass over a foam core resists dents, rot and moisture better than wood and holds paint well, and the sidelites add light without a separate transom. Locks are not included, so budget for a handleset and deadbolt. No current price was supplied with this listing, so check the live comparison for where it sits against its recent range.

Questions and answers

Is this door worth it over a wood entry door?
For most climates, yes. Fiberglass over a polyurethane core will not rot, swell or need repainting as often as wood, and it comes prehung and prefinished. Wood still wins if you want a stained, natural-grain look.
What is in the box?
The prehung door unit: fiberglass slab, two sidelites, composite frame and satin nickel hinges. Locks and the handleset are sold separately, so add those to your budget.
What rough opening do I need?
Plan for about 65 in. wide by 82.25 in. high. The unit itself is 81.75 in. by 65 in., so confirm your wall framing before ordering.
Can I get it in left- or right-hand inswing?
Yes. It is offered in both right-hand and left-hand inswing, so match the handing to your hinge side before you buy.
Does the glass come tempered?
Yes, the sidelite glass is tempered, which is the usual requirement for glass near a door.
When is it cheapest?
Entry doors tend to discount around spring remodeling season and holiday sales. Watch the price history on this page and buy when it dips below the recent range.
