Our take on the Modular Bondi Espresso 3-Seater Sectional

The Modular Bondi Espresso 3-Seater Sectional is a washable, reconfigurable sofa built from three 36-inch seat blocks, five wood backs and arms, and an ottoman, with an overall footprint of 118.25 by 77 inches. Its draw is the deep 25-inch seat, down-alternative-topped foam cushions and removable, machine-washable performance fabric covers on an FSC-certified ash frame. Eco-foam in each sofa upcycles about 400 recycled plastic bottles. It is a large, comfort-first piece rather than a compact apartment sofa.

Questions and answers

Is the Bondi sectional worth it?
If you want a large, deep sofa you can rearrange and wash, it is a strong pick. The 4.8 rating from 132 buyers suggests most owners are happy with the comfort and fabric.
How big a room does it need?
It measures 118.25 inches wide by 77 inches deep, so plan for a room that can spare roughly 10 by 6.5 feet plus walking space. Check doorways and hallways before ordering.
Can the covers really be washed?
Yes. Every fabric cover has a concealed zipper and comes off, and the performance fabrics are machine washable, liquid repellent and stain resistant. Large covers need a big drum and air or low-heat drying.
Can I change the layout later?
Yes. Each seat block works in the middle, on an end or as a corner, so you can reconfigure the sofa or split it into separate pieces.
What is in the box?
Five wood backs and arms, three seat blocks, three back pillows, two arm pillows, two throw pillows and one ottoman.
When is it cheapest?
Modular sofas like this usually drop during holiday sales and end-of-season clearance. Watch the price history and buy when it falls below its recent range.
