Our take on the Mondawe 2500W-2800W Portable Inverter Generator Quiet Gas Powered with Eco Mode

The Mondawe is a gas-powered portable inverter generator rated at 2500W running and 2800W peak, with a 6-gallon tank and an Eco Mode that lowers engine speed when loads are light. The inverter design gives cleaner power for laptops, phones and sensitive electronics, and the large tank is aimed at long runtimes rather than light weight. At $374 at Macy's as of November 5, 2026, it sits at the low end of what inverter generators of this output cost, well under the big-brand equivalents.

Pros
  • Inverter output is safe for laptops, TVs and phones
  • 2500W running and 2800W peak covers a fridge plus a few small loads
  • Eco Mode cuts engine speed and fuel use when loads are light
  • 6-gallon tank means fewer refueling stops
  • $374 at Macy's as of November 5, 2026 is cheap for an inverter unit of this size
Cons
  • A 6-gallon tank plus a steel frame makes it heavy and awkward for one person to lift
  • Gas only: no propane option and no electric start on this model
  • Off-brand support and parts are harder to find than with Honda or Champion
  • Inverter units still need care with high-draw motor loads like AC units

Questions and answers

Is 2500W enough to run a refrigerator?
Yes, a typical fridge draws 600–800W running and needs a brief surge on startup, which the 2800W peak should cover. Run the fridge alone when it starts, then add smaller loads.
How long will it run on a full tank?
With a 6-gallon tank and Eco Mode on light loads, expect well over a day of intermittent use; at full 2500W output runtime drops sharply. Exact figures depend on load and are not published here.
Can it power sensitive electronics like a laptop?
Yes. The inverter design produces cleaner, steadier power than a conventional generator, so laptops, phones and TVs are fine.
Does it run on propane?
No. This model is gasoline only, so you will need to store and rotate fuel.
Is $374 a good price?
It is low for a 2500W inverter generator; comparable big-brand units usually cost several hundred dollars more. Only two stores list it new, so compare before buying.
Does it have electric start?
No electric start is listed; it is a pull-start unit. Plan for manual starting, especially in cold weather.
Where is the Mondawe 2500W-2800W Portable Inverter Generator Quiet Gas Powered with Eco Mode cheapest?
