Is the Monos Hybrid Trunk Medium worth it?

It suits travelers who want a large, lockable frame suitcase and will use the 96.1 L capacity. At $470 at Monos as of November 3, 2026, it costs more than many zippered check-in bags, so the frame and locks are what you pay for.

How does it compare with the zippered Monos Check-In?

The Hybrid Trunk uses a rigid aluminum frame and two built-in locks instead of a zipper, and its trunk shape is deeper than a standard check-in. That adds security and capacity but also weight and less flex when packing.

Is it too big to check on most airlines?

At 29.9 by 15.7 by 14.3 inches it is close to or over the limits some airlines set for checked bags, so confirm the rules for your carrier. It is a check-in bag, not a carry-on.

What is the warranty and what comes in the box?

Monos sells it as a single piece; check the Monos site for the current warranty terms and whether a dust bag is included. The bag itself has two TSA locks and a four-position telescopic handle.

When is the price lowest?

Monos runs seasonal sales, and the listed new price was $470 at Monos as of November 3, 2026. Watch for markdowns around major sale periods rather than expecting frequent discounts.

Our take on the Monos Hybrid Trunk Medium

The Monos Hybrid Trunk Medium is a hard-shell check-in trunk with a zipperless anodized aluminum frame, two TSA combination locks and 360-degree spinner wheels. It holds 96.1 liters, weighs 13.18 lb and uses a polycarbonate shell with anodized corner guards and a recycled polyester lining. Its only listed new price is $470 at Monos as of November 3, 2026, with no other store pricing it new, so there is no lower competing price to compare against.
