Is the -20°C rating a comfort rating?

It is a thermal test result for the Thinsulate lining, not a guaranteed comfort limit. Most wearers will be fine in typical winter cold, but prolonged standing in extreme cold will still chill feet.

Are these boots fully waterproof?

The upper is described as waterproof with a DWR treatment, and the rubber outsole blocks ground moisture. Water can still enter over the top in deep drifts, so pair them with gaiters for deep snow.

How do they compare with Sorel or Kamik snow boots?

Sorel and Kamik boots typically cost more and offer heavier, more rugged builds for deep snow. The Arctic Thermal is lighter and cheaper, which suits city and casual winter use better than backcountry trips.

What should I wear with them?

A midweight wool or synthetic sock works well; the Thinsulate lining already adds warmth. Avoid thick cotton socks, which hold moisture and get cold.

When is the best time to buy?

Snow boots usually drop in price at the end of winter and in off-season sales. Compare the live price history on this page before buying in-season.
