Best forSkiers who want a warm jacket for cold resort daysWomen who run cold and want a -25°C ratingSkiers who want a snowskirt and vents without a premium priceCasual winter-sports trips to the slopes
Pros
  • Thermal tested to -25°C, so it suits genuinely cold days
  • Waterproof shell with a breathable build
  • Integrated snowskirt keeps snow out on falls
  • Underarm zipped vents let you dump heat on the lift or in the lodge
  • Adjustable hem and hood for a tunable fit
  • Backed by a 3-year warranty
Cons
  • Synthetic fill is bulky compared with down
  • Elastane blend shell can feel stiff and less packable
  • No pit-zip mesh backing noted, so vents can let in cold air when open
  • Fit runs to a ski-jacket cut, not a slim street fit

Questions and answers

Is the Altitude Extreme warm enough for very cold ski days?
Mountain Warehouse rates it thermal tested to -25°C, which covers most resort days. Below that, or if you run cold, layer a midlayer underneath.
Is it actually waterproof?
Yes, it is sold as a waterproof jacket with a breathable shell. Seams and the snowskirt help keep snow and wet out on the slopes.
What is the snowskirt for?
The integrated snowskirt seals the waist so snow does not ride up if you fall. It is standard on dedicated ski jackets and a step up from all-purpose winter coats.
Does it have vents?
Yes, it has zipped underarm vents. Open them on the lift or after a hard run and close them before descending.
How does it compare with a down ski jacket?
It uses synthetic polyester fill, which stays warm when damp and costs less than down. Down is lighter and more packable, but pricier.
When is it cheapest?
Ski jackets usually drop after the season ends, in late winter and spring. The current best new price is $215 at Nordstrom as of November 5, 2026.
Where is the Mountain Warehouse Waterproof Altitude Extreme Womens Ski Jacket cheapest?
