Is the MSI Claw 8 AI+ worth $1,299.99?

It is worth it if you want a large 8-inch Windows handheld with strong Intel graphics and don't mind the price. A Steam Deck or ROG Ally costs much less if you mainly play Steam games.

How is it different from the original Claw?

The Claw 8 AI+ uses Intel's Lunar Lake chip instead of Meteor Lake, with a bigger 8-inch screen and improved ergonomics. Reviews say it fixes most of the first Claw's performance and battery problems.

What is the battery life?

Expect roughly one to two hours in demanding games and longer in lighter or indie titles. Owners consistently call battery life its weakest point.

Can it run Xbox and Game Pass games?

Yes. It runs full Windows 11, so the Xbox app, Game Pass and PC storefronts like Steam and Epic all work.

What comes in the box?

The retail package includes the handheld unit itself; check the listing for whether a charger or case is bundled.

Only one store lists it new at $1,299.99 as of November 7, 2026, so there is little price competition. Watch for holiday sales, when handhelds usually see their deepest discounts.

Our take on the MSI Claw 8 AI+

The MSI Claw 8 AI+ is an 8-inch Windows gaming handheld built on Intel's Core Ultra 200V (Lunar Lake) platform, with the Arc 140V integrated GPU and AI upscaling. It competes with the Steam Deck and ROG Ally as a full Windows PC in handheld form, so it runs Xbox and PC titles from Steam, Epic and the Microsoft Store. The latest best new price is $1,299.99 at Walmart as of November 7, 2026, and only one store lists it new, so there is little price competition to shop around.
