Is the MSR Switch worth $133.90?

It is priced at the top of the one-liter system class. If fast boils and an all-in-one pack matter more to you than saving money, it earns the price; budget shoppers can find cheaper canister stoves.

How fast does it really boil a liter?

MSR claims 2:30 minutes for one liter on isopropane. Real times depend on canister level, air temperature and wind, so expect somewhat longer in cold or breezy conditions.

What fuel does it take?

It runs on isopropane canister fuel, the standard threaded canisters sold at most outdoor stores. It does not run on white gas or other liquid fuels.

How much does it weigh?

MSR lists 13.8 oz for the system, which includes the burner and pot. Fuel canister weight is extra.

Is one liter enough for two people?

One liter covers two freeze-dried meals or drinks for two, but not much more. For bigger groups or real cooking, a larger pot makes more sense.

Our take on the MSR Switch

The MSR Switch is a 1-liter canister-fuel stove system that packs the burner, pot and lid into one unit. MSR rates it at 13.8 oz and a 2:30 boil time on isopropane canisters, which puts it in the fast-boil class for solo and two-person trips. Its best new price is $133.90 at Amazon as of November 6, 2026, with three stores listing it new. That is a premium price for a one-liter system, so it competes on speed and packability rather than on cost.
