Questions and answers

Is the GA97HEA worth $4,500?
It is a professional-grade unit built around a Honda GX630, so the price buys commercial durability rather than features. Compare it with other 8,000-watt-class generators if you only need occasional home backup.
How long does it run on a full tank?
At 1.25 gallons per hour at full load, the 10-gallon tank lasts about 8 hours. Lighter loads stretch that considerably.
Can I use it in California?
No. It is 49-state compliant, so it is not certified for sale or use in California.
What can 8,400 watts power?
It runs a mix of job-site tools, pumps, lights and appliances, and the 9,700 surge watts handle motor startup. Add up starting watts for anything with a motor before sizing your load.
Does it have electric start?
Yes, it starts electrically, so no pull-cord effort. The battery still needs to be kept charged between uses.
When is it cheapest?
Prices vary by store and season; the best new price found was $4,500 at eBay as of November 5, 2026. Check the price history before buying.
