Our take on the MX15RX 1 Ton Mini Excavator with RATO Engine

The MX15RX is a 1-ton gasoline mini excavator with a 13.5 HP RATO engine, rubber tracks and a 37-inch width that lets it fit through gates and work in tight yards. It has dual pilot controls and auxiliary hydraulics for attachments. At $3,999.99 at eBay as of November 4, 2026, it sits at the low end of what 1-ton machines cost new.

Pros
  • Narrow 37-inch width fits through most gates
  • Rubber tracks are gentle on lawns and pavement
  • Auxiliary hydraulics run augers and breakers
  • Dual pilot controls are easier to learn than lever-only setups
  • Low entry price for a 1-ton class machine
Cons
  • 13.5 HP gas engine is modest for hard clay or rock
  • 0.9-ton weight limits lift and dig force
  • Gas engine means more fueling and noise than diesel
  • Dealer support and parts availability are uncertain at this price

Questions and answers

Is the MX15RX worth buying over a used name-brand mini excavator?
At $3,999.99 it undercuts most used 1-ton machines from major brands. You trade dealer support and resale value for a new machine with a warranty from the seller.
What can the auxiliary hydraulics run?
The 5.7 GPM flow at 21.6 L/min is enough for small augers, breakers and thumbs sized for a 1-ton machine. Check that any attachment's flow rating matches before buying.
Will it fit through a standard gate?
At 37 inches wide it fits through most 4-foot gates and between fence posts. Measure your narrowest opening first, since the tracks and blade add width.
What comes in the box?
Typically the excavator, one bucket and a tool kit. Confirm with the seller whether a thumb, extra bucket or trailer is included, since listings vary.
When is the price lowest?
Small excavator prices move with seasonal demand, often dipping in late fall and winter. The current $3,999.99 at eBay is the best new price across 4 stores as of November 4, 2026.
