Is bakuchiol as effective as retinol?

Bakuchiol has shown retinol-like effects on fine lines in small studies, but the evidence base is much smaller. This serum pairs both, so it does not rely on bakuchiol alone.

Can sensitive skin use it?

Olivanna lists it for sensitive skin, but it contains retinol. Start two nights a week and build up, and stop if you get stinging or peeling.

Do I need sunscreen with a night serum?

Yes. Retinol makes skin more sun-sensitive, so use a daily SPF even though you apply this only at night.

How does it compare with a plain retinol serum?

It should feel gentler than a full-strength retinol serum and adds moisturizing. Expect slower, subtler results than a prescription retinoid.

Our take on the Olivanna Bakuchiol Miracle Night Serum 30 ml

Olivanna Bakuchiol Miracle Night Serum is a 1 fl oz night treatment built around bakuchiol, a plant-derived retinol alternative, paired with retinol itself. It targets wrinkles and firmness while moisturizing, and the brand lists it as suitable for all skin types, including sensitive. At $66.31 at Shop Simon as of November 8, 2026, it is the only new price listed, so there is no recent range to compare it against.
