Our take on the Olivivi Artificial Olive Tree Tall Faux Silk Plant

The Olivivi is an 84-inch faux olive tree with silk leaves and plastic branches, potted and rated for outdoor use. At 7 feet tall it is sized to fill a corner or flank a doorway without the watering and light an olive tree needs indoors. It is a decor piece, not a live plant, so expect a fixed shape and no growth.

Best forFilling a tall empty corner in a living roomEntryway or patio styling that needs no wateringRenters who want greenery without plant careThanksgiving and fall seasonal displays
Pros
  • 84-inch height gives real presence in tall rooms
  • Silk leaves read more natural than basic plastic foliage
  • Potted, so it stands on its own out of the box
  • Rated for outdoor use on a covered porch or patio
  • No watering, pruning or light requirements
Cons
  • Faux silk and plastic, so close inspection shows it is not real
  • Fixed shape; branches may need bending to look full
  • 7 feet tall is too large for small rooms
  • Needs dusting to stay presentable

Questions and answers

Is the Olivivi olive tree worth it?
If you want a tall, low-maintenance tree for a corner or porch, it does that job at a fraction of the care a live olive tree needs. Skip it if you want a plant that looks real up close.
How tall is it, and will it fit my room?
It stands 84 inches, about 7 feet. Measure your ceiling and the spot first; it suits rooms with 9-foot ceilings or open corners.
Can it go outside?
Yes, it is listed as suitable for outdoor use. A covered porch or patio is the safer spot, since silk and plastic fade in direct sun over time.
Does it come assembled?
It arrives potted and mostly assembled. You spread and bend the branches to shape it, which takes a few minutes.
Is it real silk or plastic?
The leaves are silk and the branches and trunk are plastic. The mix gives a softer leaf look with a firm structure.
When is the best time to buy it?
Faux trees usually see the deepest discounts around Thanksgiving and the winter holidays, when seasonal decor goes on sale.
