Our take on the Omega Paw Roll n Clean Self-Cleaning Litter Box

The Omega Paw Roll n Clean is a covered plastic litter box that cleans itself by rolling: you tip the drum on its side and back, and a grate inside sifts clumps into a pull-out tray. It needs no power, scoops or liners, and the enclosed design keeps mess out of sight. It is a budget option compared with automatic self-cleaning boxes, and its rating of 3.7 from about 8,500 ratings shows plenty of owners find the roll-and-sift trick works while others do not.

Questions and answers

How does the Roll n Clean work?
You roll the box onto its side and back. A grate inside sifts clean litter while clumps fall into a tray you pull out and empty.
Does it need electricity or batteries?
No. It is fully manual and runs on the rolling motion, so there is nothing to charge or plug in.
What litter should I use?
Clumping litter works best because the grate separates firm clumps. Non-clumping litter will not sift properly.
Is it big enough for a large cat?
It suits average cats. Owners of big or heavy cats often report the drum is tight, so measure your cat before buying.
How often do I empty it?
Empty the pull-out tray every day or two for one cat. Waiting longer lets odor build and clumps harden.
Is it worth it over a motorized self-cleaning box?
It costs far less and has no electronics to fail, but it still needs manual rolling and scraping. Choose it if you want low cost and simple mechanics.
