Our take on the Onikuma Gaming USB Microphone with Boom Arm

The Onikuma Gaming USB Microphone is a plug-and-play cardioid condenser mic that comes with a boom arm, aimed at streamers, gamers and callers who want a cheap desk setup without an audio interface. It connects over USB, runs on bus power and outputs stereo. The 2.68 lb frame-and-boom package is heavier than a bare desktop mic, so it needs a clampable desk edge. No current price was supplied with this listing, so check the live comparison before buying.

Pros
  • USB plug-and-play, no audio interface or XLR cable needed
  • Cardioid pattern rejects some room noise and keyboard clatter
  • Boom arm included, so the mic stays off the desk
  • Handles loud sources up to 110 dB SPL
  • Stereo output mode for recording or streaming software
Cons
  • Condenser capsule picks up more room echo than a dynamic mic
  • 2200 ohm impedance is high and can sound thin on some inputs
  • Stereo output is unusual for a single voice mic and needs mono setup in software
  • 2.68 lb arm needs a sturdy desk edge and clamp space
  • Little brand track record in audio compared with established mic makers

Questions and answers

Is the Onikuma USB microphone worth it?
It is a low-cost way to get a boom-mounted USB condenser mic without extra gear. If you need broadcast-quality voice or heavy noise rejection, spend more on a dynamic mic.
Does it need a stand or arm?
The boom arm is included, so you only need a desk edge thick enough for the clamp. Check your desk for a clear clamping spot before buying.
Will it work with PS5, Xbox or a phone?
USB mics like this typically work on PC, Mac and PS5, but Xbox consoles and phones often need adapters or do not support USB audio. Confirm compatibility with your device first.
Why does it record in stereo?
The mic outputs stereo, which can split your voice oddly in editors. Set your recording or streaming software to mono for a single speaker.
What is in the box?
Expect the microphone, the boom arm and a USB cable. A pop filter or shock mount is not confirmed, so budget for one if plosives are a problem.
When is it cheapest?
Budget USB mic kits usually drop during back-to-school and Black Friday sales. Check the price history chart before buying at full price.
