Our take on the Ophanie 47in Gray Orthopedic Dog Bed for Large Dogs, XXL

The Ophanie 47-inch orthopedic dog bed is an XXL bolster bed for large dogs, with a gray plush cover over a dense egg-crate foam base and raised sides for head and neck support. The cover is waterproof, which matters for older dogs and puppies. At $37.97 at Walmart as of November 5, 2026, it sits at the low end of what a bed this size typically costs; the only other new listing is higher.

Questions and answers

Is this bed big enough for a large breed?
At 47 inches long, it suits most large dogs such as Labs, Goldens and German Shepherds. Giant breeds over about 100 pounds will likely need a longer bed.
Is it truly orthopedic?
It uses egg-crate foam, which cushions joints but is softer than solid memory foam. It helps senior dogs, but dogs with severe arthritis may need a firmer base.
Can the cover go in the washing machine?
Yes, the cover is removable and machine washable, and the waterproof layer protects the foam underneath. Unzip it fully and close the zipper before washing.
Is $37.97 a good price?
It is a low price for a 47-inch orthopedic bed; most comparable beds run $50 to $100. Only two stores list it new, so check both before buying.
What comes in the box?
The bed ships compressed with the foam base and cover. Let it expand for a day or two after unboxing before your dog uses it.
