Is the inverter worth it over a regular microwave?

Yes if you defrost, melt or simmer often. Inverter power runs continuously at low levels instead of pulsing full power on and off, which gives more even results on delicate foods. For plain reheating the difference is smaller.

How big is the interior really?

It is 0.9 cu ft with an 11.24-inch turntable and 12.94 inches of interior depth. That fits dinner plates and most frozen meals but not a large roasting dish or a big casserole.

Does it need space behind it?

Yes. The vent is at the back and recirculates air, so leave clearance behind the unit and don't push it flush against a wall.

What comes in the box?

The microwave, a glass turntable and roller ring, and the owner's manual. No trim kit or extra accessories are included.

Countertop microwaves usually dip during major sale periods and when a model is being replaced in the line. Track its price history and buy when the current price sits near the low end of its recent range.

Is it good for a family?

It suits one or two people better. A family cooking larger portions will want 1.2 cu ft or more.

Our take on the Panasonic 0.9 Cu Ft Countertop Inverter Microwave

The Panasonic NN-SD47QS is a 0.9 cu ft countertop microwave in the Genius line, rated at 1000 watts with Panasonic's inverter power supply instead of the usual on/off transformer. Inverter output holds a low, steady heat, which matters most for defrosting, melting and simmering rather than for raw speed. It has a 11.24-inch turntable, a left-swing door, and a recirculating vent at the back, so it needs clearance behind it. It is a compact, mid-power unit; check current listings for the latest price against its recent range before buying.
