Is the Panasonic SC-PM700 worth it?

It is a solid pick if you want a compact stereo with a CD player, radio and Bluetooth and don't need Wi-Fi streaming. The 80W output and separate speakers give it an edge over one-box radios at a similar size.

Does it have Bluetooth and Wi-Fi?

It has Bluetooth for streaming from a phone or tablet. It has no Wi-Fi, so there is no AirPlay, Chromecast or Spotify Connect.

Can I connect it to my TV?

There is no HDMI or optical input, so it is not a good TV soundbar substitute. You would need to use an analog connection if the TV has one.

How big is it and where can I put it?

The main unit is 210mm wide, 114mm tall and 261mm deep, and each speaker is about 145mm wide and 226mm tall. It fits on a shelf or desk, but the speakers need some space either side for stereo separation.

What comes in the box?

You get the main unit, two speakers, a remote control, an FM antenna and the power cable. Speaker cables are included for connecting the speakers to the main unit.

Micro hi-fi systems like this usually drop during Black Friday and end-of-year sales, and older stock clears out when a successor arrives. Check the price history before buying.

Our take on the Panasonic SC-PM700

The Panasonic SC-PM700 is a compact 80W micro hi-fi system with a two-way, two-speaker setup built around 10cm cone woofers. It is a bookshelf-style stereo for CDs, radio and Bluetooth streaming, with a small main unit (210mm wide, 114mm tall) and separate speakers that weigh about 1.8kg each. Its 80W RMS output is high for this size class, so it suits a bedroom or small living room better than a large open space.
