Our take on the Persil Original Liquid Laundry Detergent

Persil Original is a concentrated liquid detergent sold in a 164-ounce bottle rated for about 125 loads. It is a high-efficiency formula for standard and HE washers, and the listing describes it as unscented with a fresh scent family, so shoppers who are scent-sensitive should check the label. At roughly $0.10 per load at typical pricing, it sits in the middle of the mainstream detergent range, above store brands and below premium pods.

Questions and answers

Is Persil Original good for HE washers?
Yes. It is labeled high efficiency and formulated for both HE and standard machines. Use the dose on the cap and avoid overfilling, since excess suds can slow a front loader.
How many loads does the 164-ounce bottle do?
The bottle is rated for about 125 loads. That works out to roughly 1.3 ounces per load, so a smaller dose for light loads stretches it further.
Is it really unscented?
The listing says unscented but also lists a fresh scent family, which is contradictory. Check the bottle label before buying if fragrance matters to you.
Is Persil better than Tide for stains?
Both are strong mainstream liquids. Persil is often praised for enzyme cleaning at a lower price per load, while Tide has a wider lineup of variants. For everyday soil, either works.
When is it cheapest?
Large bottles like this one are most often discounted during store promotions and multi-buy sales. Compare the price per load rather than the bottle price.
