Is this detacher worth it for a small shop?

If you handle standard RF 8.2MHz tags, yes. It costs far less than a full detacher system and needs no power. It will not help with AM tags or other frequencies.

Will it remove tags from any store?

No. It is built for RF 8.2MHz tags, the most common type on clothing. Stores using AM systems or other frequencies need a matching detacher.

Does it need batteries or charging?

No. It is a passive permanent magnet, so it works without power and never needs charging.

One magnet security detacher only. No tags, lanyard or mounting hardware are included.

Is it safe to keep near a phone or credit card?

Keep it away from cards, watches, phones and other magnet-sensitive items. A 20,000 gauss magnet can erase stripes and damage some electronics.

When is the price lowest?

This is a niche hardware item, so discounts are sporadic. Watch for price drops around back-to-school and holiday retail seasons, when store supplies are restocked.

Our take on the PEXRYX 20000GS Strong Detacher Magnet

The PEXRYX 20000GS Strong Detacher Magnet is a handheld tool for removing RF 8.2MHz security tags, the kind used on clothing and electronics in retail stores. Its 20,000 gauss magnet is strong enough to release most standard RF tags, and the aluminum-coated body is built to take repeated use. It is a single-purpose tool aimed at retail staff and resellers rather than general home security.
