Is this surge tap worth it over a plain power strip?

Yes if you want surge protection and USB charging in one unit. A plain strip is cheaper but leaves you plugging in a separate charger for every phone or tablet.

Can the USB ports fast-charge a phone?

Expect standard USB-A charging, not fast charging. The listing gives no wattage or Power Delivery spec, so a modern phone will charge more slowly than with its own adapter.

Does it work outside the US?

No. It is rated 125 V with US-style grounded plugs, so it suits the US, Canada and similar 120 V markets only.

How many things can I plug in at once?

Four grounded devices plus two USB devices, six in total. The listing does not state a maximum wattage, so avoid heavy appliances like space heaters or large power tools.

The surge tap itself. The listing does not mention a cable, mounting hardware or documentation, so check the packaging details before buying if you need a specific cord length.

Our take on the Philips All-in-One Surge Tap with USB

The Philips All-in-One Surge Tap is a plug-in power strip with four grounded 125 V outlets and two USB charging ports in a white housing. It adds surge protection to a desk, TV stand or bedside setup without a separate charger for phones and tablets. It is a modest, function-first accessory rather than a smart strip: no individual switches, no app control and no USB-C. Shoppers comparing it should weigh the two USB-A ports against strips that now ship with USB-C Power Delivery.
