Is the Pilot FriXion worth it over a pencil?

Yes if you want pen-like ink and a clean line. A pencil still wins for heavy erasing and for anything archival.

Can I use it on official documents?

No. FriXion ink is designed to be erasable and can fade with heat, so avoid checks, contracts and legal forms.

Does the ink really disappear completely?

It erases by friction heat, not by rubbing off. Most paper looks clean, but some papers show a faint ghost of the line.

What tip size is this?

This is the 0.7mm medium point in blue gel ink, the standard FriXion rollerball size.

Yes, Pilot sells FriXion refills, but check the refill matches this rollerball body rather than the retractable version.

Multipacks and back-to-school sales usually bring the per-pen price down most; single pens rarely discount much.

Our take on the Pilot FriXion Erasable Rollerball Pen 0.7mm Tip

The Pilot FriXion is a gel rollerball pen whose ink disappears when you rub it with the built-in rubber tip, so you can write, erase and rewrite on paper without tearing it. The 0.7mm medium tip lays down a smooth blue line that dries quickly. It is the pen most people mean when they want an erasable pen that feels like a real pen, not a pencil. The 4.7 out of 5 rating from about 1,700 ratings reflects that reputation.
