Our take on the Plank+Beam 40 inch Mid Century Modern Coffee Table

The Plank+Beam 40-inch coffee table is a solid pine, mid-century rectangle with tapered legs and hand-applied low-VOC finishes. It measures 40.25 by 20 inches and stands 17.75 inches tall, so it fits a sofa-front footprint without crowding a small living room. At 22 lb it is light enough for one person to move. The best new price is $44.96 at Furniture Town San Antonio as of November 7, 2026, well below what solid-wood tables of this size usually cost.

Questions and answers

Is $44.96 a good price for this table?
Yes. Solid pine coffee tables this size usually sell for well over $100, so $44.96 at Furniture Town San Antonio as of November 7, 2026 is a strong price. Four stores list it new, so compare before buying.
Is it real wood or veneer?
Real wood. The top, frame and legs are solid pine with a hand-applied low-VOC finish.
How hard is assembly?
It ships unassembled with legs to attach. Most people finish in under an hour with a screwdriver or hex key; two people help when flipping it upright.
Will it fit in front of my sofa?
At 40.25 inches long and 20 inches deep, it suits sofas up to about 80 inches. Leave 14 to 18 inches between the table and the sofa for legroom.
Can I use it outdoors?
No. It is made for indoor living room use, and pine will swell and finish will fail with moisture and sun.
Does it have storage?
No. It is a plain top with four legs, with no shelf or drawer underneath.
