How does a passive lava rock diffuser work?

You put a few drops of essential oil or a blend directly on the lava stone. The porous rock absorbs the oil and releases the scent slowly into the air. There is no heat, water or fan involved.

How much area does it scent?

It is meant for small spaces such as a bedside table, desk or small room. Expect a subtle scent close to the diffuser rather than whole-room coverage.

How often do I add oil?

When the scent fades, add more drops to the stone. How often depends on the oil and the room, but expect to re-oil every few days for steady scent.

Can I switch between different essential oils?

Yes, but the lava stone holds onto scent. Strong oils like eucalyptus or peppermint can linger, so use a separate disc or accept some blending if you switch often.

At $17.00 at The Refillery Traverse City as of November 7, 2026, it is the lowest of the four new prices we track. That puts it at the low end of its recent range.
