Our take on the Portable Humidifier Cool Mist Humidifier with Color-Changing Light

This is a small ultrasonic cool-mist humidifier with a color-changing light, sold under the TotalComfort Portable name. Its 8.5 fl oz tank is tiny even by personal-humidifier standards, so it suits a desk or nightstand rather than a room. The listed 18-hour timer and 14.33 x 12.83 x 9.06 in dimensions look inconsistent with a tank that small, so treat the run time as unproven. At $47.99 at Newegg.com as of November 3, 2026, it is priced like a mid-range personal unit, and only one store lists it new, so there is no price history to compare against.

Best forDesk and office workers who want mist within arm's reachA child's nightstand, thanks to the color-changing lightSmall bedrooms and dorm roomsBuyers who want a cheap, simple personal humidifier
Pros
  • Color-changing light doubles as a night light
  • Cool mist is safe to place near a bed or desk
  • Compact footprint for a nightstand or office desk
  • Ultrasonic design runs without a fan or heating element
  • Simple fill-and-run operation with no filters to buy
Cons
  • 8.5 fl oz tank needs refilling often, likely every night
  • Output is too low to raise humidity in a full room
  • Ultrasonic units can leave white dust if you use hard tap water
  • Specs conflict: an 18-hour timer on a tank this small is doubtful
  • Only one store lists it new, so price competition is thin

Questions and answers

Is $47.99 a good price for this humidifier?
It is the only new price listed, $47.99 at Newegg.com as of November 3, 2026, so there is no recent range to judge it against. Comparable personal humidifiers with lights often sell for $20 to $40, so this sits at the high end for its size.
How long does the tank last?
The tank holds 8.5 fl oz, which is very small. Expect to refill it most nights, and do not count on the listed 18-hour timer reflecting real run time.
Will it humidify a bedroom?
No. It is a personal humidifier meant for a desk or nightstand. For a full bedroom, look for a unit with a tank of a gallon or more.
Does it need distilled water?
Distilled water is recommended. Tap water in most US homes is hard enough to leave white mineral dust on furniture with ultrasonic humidifiers.
What comes in the box?
Typically the humidifier unit, a power adapter and a short manual. Check the listing for the adapter type, since it runs on 115V/60Hz US power.
When is it cheapest?
With only one store listing it, discounts are unlikely outside holiday sales. Watch Newegg.com around Black Friday and back-to-school season.
