Is the Tyler recliner power or manual?

Both versions exist. Pottery Barn sells the Tyler as a manual recliner and as a power recliner, so check which one the listing is for before buying.

How much room does it need behind it?

Fully reclined, the chair is 60 inches deep. Leave that much clearance from the wall or furniture behind it.

Does it swivel and glide?

Yes. It sits on a round metal swivel base and also glides, so it works as a nursery chair as well as a living room recliner.

What is the seat size?

The seat is 24 inches wide, 21.5 inches deep and 20 inches high. The chair itself is 30 inches wide and 36.5 inches tall upright.

Is $949 a good price?

Pottery Barn is the only store listing it new at $949 as of November 6, 2026, so there is no lower competing price to compare. Watch for Pottery Barn furniture sales, which are the usual way to pay less.

What is the upholstery?

It is a polyester fabric in Oatmeal over down-blend-wrapped cushions, on an engineered wood frame with a metal base.
