Our take on the Prada A19S Sunglasses

The Prada A19S is a men's full-rim squared sunglass in a mask-shaped silhouette from Prada's Catwalk line. The propionate frame carries grey polycarbonate lenses rated Category 2, so they cut glare for everyday and overcast light rather than harsh midday sun. The lenses are not polarized, and the high bridge fit suits wider or flatter nose bridges.

Best forMen wanting a bold designer frameEveryday and city wearWider or high-bridge facesBuyers who prefer lightweight plastic frames
Pros
  • Mask-shaped squared frame stands out from standard wayfarers
  • Propionate frame is lighter than acetate
  • Category 2 lenses suit driving and daily glare
  • High bridge fit works for flatter nose bridges
  • UV protection built into the lenses
Cons
  • Not polarized, so glare off water and roads is only partly cut
  • Category 2 is too light for bright beach or snow use
  • Temple length of 120 mm is short and may pinch larger heads
  • No interchangeable lenses
  • Polycarbonate lenses scratch more easily than glass

Questions and answers

Are the Prada A19S lenses polarized?
No. They are grey polycarbonate with UV protection but no polarizing filter, so they reduce brightness without killing glare from water or asphalt.
What light conditions are Category 2 lenses for?
Category 2 is a medium tint for everyday sun, driving and partly cloudy days. It is not dark enough for intense beach, snow or high-altitude light, where Category 3 or 4 is the norm.
Will these fit a wide face?
The 60 mm lens width and high bridge fit suit medium to wide faces. The 120 mm temples are on the short side, so check them if you usually need longer arms.
What comes in the box?
Prada typically ships these with a hard case and a cleaning cloth. Confirm the case style with the seller, since packaging can vary by region.
How do they compare with the Prada Linea Rossa styles?
The A19S is a fashion-forward mask shape in propionate. Linea Rossa models are sportier, often with rubberized temples and wrap shapes, and are the better pick for active use.
What do buyers say about the Prada A19S Sunglasses?
Rated 5 out of 5 from 9 ratings.
