Is the Prompter XL worth $599.99?

If you read from 10 to 15 ft or run a heavy camera rig, the large bright screen and 11-lb bracket justify it. For close-up work on a phone or small camera, a smaller prompter costs far less.

What USB port does it need?

It requires a USB 3.2 Gen 2 connection at 10 Gbps. Older USB 3.0 or USB 2.0 ports may not deliver enough bandwidth for the display.

It ships with step-up rings for 49, 52, 55, 58, 62, 67, 72, 77 and 82 mm threads. Lenses outside those sizes need an extra adapter.

How far away can the talent stand?

The maximum reading distance is about 15 ft (4.6 m). At that range the 15.6-inch 1080p screen keeps text legible.

Can I use it as a regular monitor?

Yes. The description says it doubles as an extra monitor between shoots, and the 600-nit panel is bright enough for desk use.

How much does it weigh?

It weighs 7.43 lbs (3.37 kg) with the bracket and 6.55 lbs (2.97 kg) without it. Use a sturdy tripod or C-stand.

Our take on the Prompter XL

The Prompter XL is a 15.6-inch 1080p teleprompter with a 600-nit display, built for larger rigs and longer reading distances up to 15 ft. It includes step-up rings from 49 to 82 mm and a camera bracket rated to 11 lbs, and it can double as a spare monitor between shoots. It weighs 7.43 lbs with the bracket, so it needs a solid tripod or C-stand. The best new price is $599.99 at Amazon as of November 8, 2026, the only new price listed.
