Is the PS5 Pro worth it over a regular PS5?

If you have a 4K TV with 120Hz support and play demanding games, the sharper image and steadier frame rates are real. On a 1080p or 60Hz screen the difference is small, and the base PS5 costs far less.

Does the PS5 Pro play discs?

No. It is all-digital and games are bought from the PlayStation Store. A compatible disc drive is sold separately if you want to play Blu-ray or 4K Ultra HD discs.

How much storage does the PS5 Pro have?

It has a 2TB SSD, double the base PS5. Part of that space is reserved for system software, so usable capacity is lower.

Can the PS5 Pro play PS4 games?

Yes. It is backwards compatible with over 8,500 PS4 games, and Game Boost can run some of them at higher, smoother frame rates.

What comes in the box?

The console, one DualSense wireless controller, a stand, cables and Astro's Playroom pre-installed. No other games are included.

Our take on the PS5 Pro

The PS5 Pro is Sony's mid-generation upgrade to the PS5, an all-digital console with no disc drive and a 2TB SSD. Its main draw is the upgraded GPU with PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR), which uses AI upscaling to sharpen image clarity on 4K TVs, plus advanced ray tracing and steadier high frame rates on enhanced games. It plays the same PS5 library and over 8,500 PS4 games, with Game Boost smoothing performance on older titles. The best new price is $1,278.00 at StockX as of November 3, 2026, with 6 stores listing it new.
